Travel & Getting Around
Dublin Airport (DUB): This is the primary international hub and the most convenient option for the wedding. Kilkea Castle is an easy, one-hour drive south of Dublin Airport via the M9 motorway.
Shannon Airport (SNN): Located on the West Coast, Shannon is a great option if you plan to explore the scenic western counties before heading to Kildare. It is approximately a two-and-a-half-hour drive to the venue.
Transportation: We highly recommend renting a car at the airport. Public transportation to rural estates is limited, and having your own vehicle will give you the freedom to explore the countryside at your own pace.
Accommodation: Where to Book
We have secured a block of rooms on the Kilkea Castle estate (booking code found on the back of your invitation). August is the peak of the Irish tourist season, so we highly encourage our guests to secure their accommodations as early as possible.
Staying on the Estate
When booking through the estate, you will have two primary options:
The Courtyard Rooms: Located just a short walk from the main castle, these elegant rooms are the perfect size for couples.
The Castle Lodges: Situated near the golf course, these multi-bedroom lodges offer a self-catering setup with a shared living space.
Booking Note: To ensure we have enough space for everyone, we kindly ask that any parties of 3 or more book a Castle Lodge. This is much more cost-effective for larger groups and ensures the smaller Courtyard rooms remain available for couples.
Alternative Local Accommodations
If the estate reaches capacity or you prefer to stay off-site, there are excellent options nearby. (Please note: you will need to arrange a taxi or have a rental car if staying off-site).
The Clanard Court Hotel (Athy): A highly rated, full-service four-star hotel approximately 15 minutes from the venue.
The Moat Lodge (Castledermot): A charming, traditional Irish guesthouse located right in the local village, less than 5 minutes from the estate.
